Bought my first truck

Post by STeeL » Thu May 23, 2019 7:09 am

Welcome to MTV Cribs! Thought we'd start outside so I could show you my whips. This is my 2009 Hummer H3T Adventure. They didn't make too many of these over the two years they were sold, one source I've seen says less than 3000. It's rockin' 33's, of course there's a sub in it (I'm assuming factory Monsoon?), 6 CD in dash changer so I can load up every good Ludacris album, and some unimportant bullshit like full time 4WD with front and rear electronic lockers and a bunch of numbers for "departure angle" and "crawl ratio" that I don't understand, not trying to front.

It's the baby Hummer, but it looks big when you park it next to toy cars like this one:

I'll make build thread when I ice it out (or figure out why my backup camera doesn't work).

Thanks for coming. Peace.

Electronic lockers and no roof tent. Guess we can't make fun of you in that other thread :beerchug:

What engine does it have?

3.7 inline 5.

I checked around for the V8 Alpha's because 13 mpg city can't be that bad (right?) but the cheapest one I found around here was $10,000 more expensive before taxes and dealer fees, and it would be a 600 mile round trip to collect it :\

Didn't think the extra 55 hp was worth the cost.

Dad had a h3 for 100k miles or so, he loved it. Didn't have any issues other than a radiator that I had to swap out for him in an auto zone parking lot

Better keep on that plastic. It's gonna look like dog shit if you don't skeet on it every day.

Looks pretty good. They can be had for a very reasonable price these days and seem to have great off road capabilities. But even with that 5 cyl engine, I would be hard pressed to tolerate 13-14mpg around town.

But overall, congrats on the purchase.
How's the buyer search going on the Supra?

I have a signed document and a non-refundable $500 deposit that says it will be sold in two days

It ain't a comparison that bothers me tbh, but the internet tells me 90% of this truck is unique from a Colorado. The frame is different, the diff, the axles, the brakes, the suspension, etc.

I just like that they hold their value better.

The internet is wrong, all the undercarriage is 100% carried over from the Colorado. The only "unique" stuff you got was non selectable 4wd and different gears in the axles. They didn't even give you unique skid plates or anything

Obviously the body and (some) interior are proprietary. GM is legendary for re-using the same shit over and over again and the H3 is no exception
