Rebuilding a dodge tranny

Post by Tex62 » Thu Mar 26, 2015 1:01 pm

After watching a few videos I am thinking how bad can it be.

Mine shouldn't be as complicated since it doesn't have the overdrive. Anyone have tips or any better videos?

Everything I have read suggests that. I haven't found a website yet that will give me any real way to identify it by code or anything.

What this out of?

A 727 looks like the tranny in this "how to rebuild a 727" video. 904s are not much different.

Seems all of them are based off the 727 with minor tweaks or upgrades. Thanks for that I will check it out.

The 904 has a lot shorter output shaft housing. They look a lot different.

So that is a 904 variant.
A500/42RH-RE to be exact.
There are tons of these in junkyards and most are good. just pull the pan and make sure its clean in there. You should be able to get one for under $150 and be done with it.

Heh, unit.

If I ever have to deal with another Dodge truck automatic, it'll be too damn soon.
